Krua is collaboration between boss babe Nicola Hay and Chef Tom Josham.
Krua means kitchen in Thai. The kitchen is the heart and soul of the home, where family and friends gather together to share delicious meals with one another.
This Saturday Krua will be serving up a feast of meaty Northern delights grilled over coconut charcoal and local jarrah. A range of homemade pickles, chilli dipping sauces and sticky rice, will accompany this.
By day Nicola is a registered nurse, however, she has a strong passion for rustic home cooking. She has worked in various bars, cafes and restaurants not only in Perth but also all over the world.
In her spare time Nicola is in the kitchen. Either recipe tasting, or cooking up a variety of different cuisines to feed her family and friends, she is always perfecting her cooking skills. A recent hobby of Nicola’s has been to make homemade sourdough, which is time consuming but she says satisfying and heart-warming.
Krua focuses on Thai and Laotian cuisine. Inspired by the amazing produce Nicola and Tom say they are lucky to have available at their fingertips in Perth, as well as the vast range of flavours in Southeast Asian cooking.
As a team, they endeavour to present a different style of dining. Collaborating with local businesses to host their events, sourcing native, local ingredients as well as nose to tail cuts of meat and incorporating them into their dishes. These are all key elements in Krua.
Having a pop up allows the pair to explore different locations and dining styles, which allows them to be versatile and work towards the ultimate dining experience.
Tickets are $70 per person, which involves way too much food! BYO beer and wine as well as Skigh Wine available for purchase at the venue.
